Go Where You’re Wanted

As an entrepreneur, how hard do you try to sell your product or service? When do you back down? Should you ever back down?

You might be tempted to think, “I never give up. Everyone should be my client.” When faced with resistance, your entrepreneurial spirit kicks in and you push and push and push…

But sometimes, the sale doesn’t happen, no matter how hard you try. And that’s actually a good thing, because sometimes after forcing a sale, you find yourself wishing you hadn’t engaged such a high maintenance client in the first place.

And then there are other times, where the sale just seems effortless and the experience is pure joy. How can this be? You’re the same person, pitching the same business, after all. How is it that some people just seem to get you right away, while others don’t?

There is a lot to be said about knowing when to walk away and going where you’re wanted, as opposed to feeling like you have to constantly prove yourself worthy.

Reasons for knowing when to quit in favor of going where you’re wanted:

  • Constantly trying to convince the wrong people will dwindle your precious resources (time, energy, focus), even after they come on board.
  • Working with clients who really get you and appreciate your strengths will fuel your energy and creativity. You will breed more positivity and be more fulfilled and satisfied working with people you like, who like you back, and who think like you do. You will become better as a result of working with them.
  • Despite your best efforts, clients who just aren’t on the same page will eventually leave you. Go where you’re wanted, and you will discover clients who will stay with you for the long haul. No more selling; just nurturing positive relationships.

To find the strength to go where you’re wanted, you need to have a strong sense of who you are and what your business stands for. In other words, you need to truly understand your brand and your brand values
