3 Mind Shifts That Happen Before Entrepreneurial Success

Not every entrepreneur’s rise to success is going to be the same, but there are some pivotal mind shifts, or milestones, that tend to occur within every epic business success story.

These changes in your mindset won’t happen overnight, or in any particular order, but chances are they will happen before you find significant progress and happiness running your own company.

Here are 3 pivotal mind shifts that happen before you find entrepreneurial success…

1. You will find your purpose.

Many will try to launch a business, but only a chosen few have what it takes to see things through.

Practically every business owner will tell you that — while they knew running their own company would be hard — they had no idea just how challenging it would be.

So, what made them stay on course?

Why didn’t they cave, just get a normal job like everybody else, and settle?

Ambition, discipline, and drive are important, but they are doomed to run out without a burning purpose to sustain them.

Times will get hard — this is guaranteed.

You could be the smartest and fittest entrepreneur alive, but sooner or later, you will find yourself in a situation where it feels like your mind and body have tapped out.

It’s during those rough patches where your purpose will be the only thing that’s left to keep you going.

Your purpose is something bigger than making money.

It is your “why”.

Your why has to align with your values and core beliefs.

It’s different for every individual, and it takes deep soul-searching to figure out.

But, when you figure it out, and when your purpose, your core beliefs and values, and your business are truly working in alignment with one another, you will see an unmistakable surge in your business success and happiness.

2. You will find the right mentors.

As the saying goes — when the student is ready, the teacher will appear.

You can’t really reach beyond your limits if you don’t know what’s beyond your limits.

This is when you need to seek out people who have been where you want to go.

These people know the terrain, and what you’re up against.

These mentors go beyond teaching you about business and your industry — they will have stories and training to share with you regarding mental fitness, physical well-being, resilience, emotional intelligence, and beyond.

You don’t need to restrict yourself to one business advisor or mentor. There will be people who have something to offer you in many aspects and disciplines, to help you along your entrepreneurial path.

Just always remember to be honest with what you need and who can provide it.

Also, in order to attract the right mentor, you will have to be willing to admit that you have room to grow and more to learn.

3. Work ON your business, not IN your business.

At some point, you will reach a tipping point where you can no longer find more hours in the day to work on your business.

You’ll have hired help, invested in time-saving technology, and done all the focus-sharpening seminars… and yet, you’ll find yourself stalled at a crossroad.

It is now time for what could possibly be the most important mind shift of all.

You need to stop working like an employee for your business and start acting like an entrepreneur.

Step back and take a hard, objective look at your business.

Make cuts where it will hurt.

Make difficult investments.

Get strategic.

Where in the past, you may have been driven by passion and guts, you may find yourself now having to be more cold-calculating and discerning.

This is where you stop acting like a reactive hamster exhausting herself running in her hamster wheel, and start calling the shots more aggressively and more mindfully.

It is a difficult but necessary transition to make in the entrepreneurial journey.

In order for you to find success as a business owner, some important mind shifts need to happen. You need to define your “why” or purpose. You need to stop trying to figure it all out by yourself, and find mentors and teachers who can guide you on your entrepreneurial journey. And finally, you need to stop working IN your business and start working ON your business.
